24 Apr AMALUNGELO REFLECTION DIALOGUE
In closing off Human Rights month, the National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC), an entity of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture through the Resistance and Liberation Heritage Route Programme in collaboration with UNISA Enterprise and Constitution Hill, hosted Amalungelo Reflection Dialogue under the theme “Intergenerational voices sustaining a Human rights culture”.
This was to raise awareness through community outreach programmes around South Africa’s liberation history and heritage by involving the public to reflect collaboratively on our history of Resistance and Liberation against Colonial and Apartheid rule.
The receipient of the Order of Luthuli in Silver, Ambassador Thandi Rankoe who was awarded for her excellent contribution to the fight for the liberation of the people of South Africa, will delivered a key note address. She did outstanding work in raising awareness on supression in South Africa and mobilised support for those who were facing the apartheid security forces. The 2-hour breakfast dialogue was attended by 45 students from three different high schools in Gauteng, Heritage activists, academics and the general public.
Professor David Bichitz together with Dr Elvis Fokala were the day’s panel of speakers to ignite the engagement and knowledge production on the subject.
